Weekly Pregnancy Update

***Now that I am in the home stretch I am planning on updating once a week on my pregnancy***

How far along?
30 weeks, 6 days

Total weight gain
: After a 5lb loss this week (I am sure due to my new diet), I am up 12lbs.

Maternity clothes?
Still a mixture, but I am sporting a smaller size of maternity clothes than I did with my previous two pregnancies!

Sleep:
Not much sleeping going on here. I consider it a good night when I only have to pee every 45 minutes versus every 30 minutes. Yes, all night long. I have been forcing myself to lay down when the boys nap. Sometimes I fall asleep...other times I just rest while watching TV.

Best moment this week: Getting out of the house for a few hours with a friend...dinner and shopping. It was a rough week physically and emotionally. All of the boys were sick and Eric was working nights. I so needed a few hours away.

Movement: Oh, yes! Baby Yamaha definitely likes it when I take a bath, too:)

Gender: A boy as far as we know. Eric and I are looking forward to another u/s on Feb 2nd!

Labor Signs: I am having more contractions than I (and my OB are comfortable with), baby is staring to drop, and I am beginning to feel pressure down below.

Belly Button in or out
? Both...I am pretty neat like that.

What I miss
: Being comfortable, in general.

What I am looking forward to: I picked out a beautiful shade of blue for Ryder and Hudson's new room. We (ahem...Eric) is oh so close to having Parker and Garrett's bedroom painted. Once we get the older two boys' belongings moved into their room it's time to start the smaller room.

Milestones: As many of you know, I took my three hour glucose test. I failed it. I will be honest, I was pretty upset at first (and angry as well). I was also somewhat shocked as well. I have not had gestational diabetes with my other three pregnancies, began this pregnancy weighing less than I did my previous two pregnancies, and overall am in better shape. After a day of tears and self pity, I pulled myself together. On February 2nd, I meet w/ my OB, then MFM, and finally a dietitian (yes, three appointments all in one day). I know I will get more information at all three of these appointments. However, I wanted to get a jump start on my diet. I spoke with the dietitian on the phone, my mom who is a diabetic/RN, and a few friends who have had gestational diabetes. I have gotten a pretty good start as to what foods to avoid, when to test my sugar levels, acceptable levels, and a carb breakdown for meals/snacks. Overall, I have done really well with my diet.

So sorry to hear about your gestational diabetes. Hang in there! I hope you have a very uneventful 8 weeks!
